A symposium entitled "Utilizing Green Infrastructure for the Revitalization of the Kuma River Basin" will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 4:45 PM.
Let's utilize green infrastructure for reconstruction!
Green infrastructure refers to infrastructure that utilizes ecosystems (public facilities such as roads, rivers, parks, and sewers). Compared to traditional infrastructure, it is more environmentally friendly, creates beautiful landscapes, and functions sustainably, so it has begun to be introduced in Japan in recent years.
It is hoped that green infrastructure will be utilized in the reconstruction of Hitoyoshi and other areas. At this symposium, we will have lectures from Professor Morimoto, who advocates the rain garden, a representative method of green infrastructure, Chief Researcher Nakamura, who has been involved in green infrastructure policies at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, Mr. Asada, who is promoting urban development using green infrastructure in collaboration with Moriya City Hall and companies in Ibaraki Prefecture, and students from Nanryo High School, and we will share basic information about green infrastructure and discuss how green infrastructure should be utilized in the reconstruction of the Hitoyoshi-Kuma region in the future.
