On June 12, 2022, following the Kounose IoT Workshop the previous day , we immediately set up cameras in the locations plotted on the map.
The camera used is a product called "ATOM cam2" that can be purchased on Amazon for about 4,000 yen. It was developed as an easy-to-use surveillance camera, and by connecting to Wi-Fi, you can view high-quality images from a smartphone app.
We are currently using this camera to build a system that allows us to view the river.
Uehara Bridge
The first location where we set up the camera was Uehara Bridge.
Uehara Bridge is located at the downstream of the Kawauchi River that flows through Kounose, and is the bridge that separates the downstream and middle reaches of Kounose.
This bridge was also flooded during the heavy rains of 2020, making evacuation upstream more difficult than in the middle reaches.
There were no electrical outlets in this location, so the system was installed on an autonomous power source.
The Wi-Fi router and ATOMcam are powered by solar panels and lead batteries, and a solar charge controller that manages the charging and discharging of the solar panels and batteries.
We worked on the installation together with Mr. Iwasaki, who plays a central role in the Kannose area.
Hinata Bridge
The second place is Hitoda Bridge in the middle and upper reaches of the Kawauchi River.
Hitoda Bridge is located at the confluence of the Kawauchi River and the river that flows in from the mountains, so it is at high risk of flooding. For this reason, the bridge was also installed at an angle where the road is more visible than the river.
The Hitada Bridge was also installed with an autonomous power source.
