We installed a water level gauge in a test area to measure runoff from the forest!

On the Fourth of July, we set up equipment to see how quickly rain leaves the forest.

The study is part of an effort to determine how quickly rainwater runs off the land from the forests along the Kuma River.

The study involves setting up a place to monitor the water in the stream and observing how much water flows in the stream in response to rainfall.

Installing a water level gauge

A water level gauge is embedded in the red circle. This allows the water level in the waterway to be constantly measured.

Although it was raining, we worked at a rapid pace in preparation for the heavy rains that were to come the following days.

I hope this will help me understand another function of forests.
